External debeading tools are used to remove the outer bead that is formed by the Butt fusion process. The tool taps onto the pipe bead, then alignment blocks slide against the pipe surface to guide the debeader around the pipe. The blade cuts under the bead but does not damage the surface of the pipe. Used to remove external beads after butt fusion joint completion. External bead removal plays a key role in establishing joint integrity and is necessary when undertaking slip-lining or swage lining projects.
